The Rio Bravo Family Medicine Residency Program, sponsored by Clinica Sierra Vista, is an ACGME-accredited program that aims to recruit, train, and retain culturally competent family medicine residents and physicians dedicated to serving the underserved in Bakersfield and Kern County. The program focuses on educating high-quality family medicine residents in multicultural, rural, and underserved settings, supporting family medicine-centered education, and facilitating the development of a regional service-education network for family physicians and allied health professionals. The program also promotes excellence in medical education, facilitates the selection of practice sites in the Central San Joaquin Valley, and provides ongoing support
